The Noah’s Ark 1/2 oz silver coin is issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia. This investment coin, crafted from the purest silver (999/1000), is recognized as legal tender in Armenia. Similar to the American Eagle, it features a consistent motif. The obverse side of the coin displays the Armenian coat of arms and the words “REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA,” with the face value of 200 dram, as dram is the official currency of Armenia, stated below.
The coin clearly indicates the fine weight as “1/2 Oz Ag 999,” and the year of issue is subtly placed beneath the face value. On the reverse side, the coin depicts a detailed image of the eponymous ark. In the background, Mount Ararat, a symbol of Armenia and the final resting place of Noah’s journey, is prominently featured. In the foreground, a dove holding an olive branch in its beak symbolizes the end of the flood, as described in the Bible. The reverse also includes the English name “Noah’s Ark” and its Armenian translation, enhancing the beauty of this silver coin.
The Noah’s Ark series has been in circulation since 2011. For a small additional fee, you can obtain a certificate, endorsed by the Armenian Central Bank and the owner of Geiger Edelmetalle, that guarantees the authenticity and fineness of the Noah’s Ark silver coin.
A unique feature of these coins is the HQC system, a special process where a protective gas is introduced into the tubes containing the coins. This gas envelops the coins, protecting the silver from the formation of milk stains.
