This Royal Mint Music Legend series pays tribute to the legendary musicians of Britain. This second coin in the series honours the iconic singer Elton John. With over 300 million records sold, Elton John is among the top five best-selling artists globally. His most successful track, “Candle in the Wind,” originally released in 1973, gained global fame after being reworked and sold around 37 million copies. Elton famously performed this version at the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997 at Westminster Abbey.
The coin’s design captures Elton John’s signature style, featuring a hat, bow tie, and his famous musical-note-shaped glasses, along with the “ELTON JOHN” inscription and a section of the British flag. The reverse side displays Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait and the coin’s denomination of 2 Pounds. Struck by the Royal Mint, this limited-edition bullion coin is crafted from one ounce of 99.9% pure silver and is presented in a protective capsule for safekeeping.
